The Geek List: Sci-fi Hotness

We've been really into Sci-fi lately, hubby and I.  We've still got quite the list of things we haven't had time to watch - but we're making good progress.  And I just can't help myself - when I find something I love, I have to tell you about it!  So here's my first installment of The Geek List - some of the hottest hunks in small-screen Sci-Fi.

Nathan Fillion
He's a bit of a bigshot in the Whedonverse.  Not only did this man fight for freedom with wry wit in Firefly (and Serenity), but you may have seen him do a solo or two in Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog.  Sure sure, he's done other tv shows and movies - but if you're watching anything else, you're wasting your time.

Sean Maher
Sean Maher

Love him or hate him, this guy was absolutely perfect as Dr. Simon Tam in Firefly.  If I'd been Kaylee, I'd probably have had a crush, too.

Alan Tudyk
I'm still convinced that this man is a genius.  Not only is his comic timing pure gold, but he can believably play both lovably adorable (Firefly) and psychotically evil (Dollhouse) - and he makes it all look so effortless.

Fran Kranz
There's a soft spot in my heart for the nerds.  The socially awkward, but nonetheless endearing, brainiacs.  And while I've read that Topher Brink was voted least-likeable character on Dollhouse, I couldn't help but feel for him a little.  Oh, and you may have caught Fran appearing in The Village, too.

Enver Gjokaj
No wonder he was everyone's favorite doll.  This incredibly versatile actor manages to pull off an enormous range of characters (and accents!) in Dollhouse flawlessly.  You root for him every step of the way.
Skeet Ulrich
No one makes a nuclear apocalypse look good like Skeet Ulrich.  This Jericho former-bad-boy-saving-the-day almost makes you forget he was once the villain in Scream.  Almost.
Brian Austin Green

Another former teen heartthrob who has been redeemed by sci-fi. His Sarah Connor Chronicles character was a little rough around the edges, but you couldn't help trusting him nevertheless.

Thomas Dekker

Taking his rightful place among the top 3 John Connors (let's just forget the whole Christian Bale debacle, shall we?) this actor brought a sensitive side to the typically tough and rebellious character.   And if a central role in Sarah Connor Chronicles isn't enough to earn him a spot on this list, he can boast a start in Heroes as well.  (And I know it's not sci-fi, but did anyone catch this kid on Seinfeld?)

Milo Ventimiglia
Speaking of Heroes, how about the multi-talented Peter Petrelli?  This guy has the "troubled but loveable" routine down to a T.

Masi Oka
Here we are again with the adorable nerds.  Heroes' Hiro is so appealing you really do believe that he can save the world.

Sendhil Ramamurthy
Is it the accent or the quirky blend of skepticism and hope that make Mohinder Suresh so much fun to watch?

Zachary Quinto
Zachary has to be a versatile actor if he's been chosen to play both a psychopathic super-villain and everyone's favorite Vulcan.
Connor Trineer
And speaking of Star Trek, this Enterprise officer captured my attention at the very first episode.  His heroics never cease and the emotional range they give this character is a refreshing change from some of the more stereotypical Star Trek males.

Alexander Siddig
I'll confess - the only reason I could bring myself to watch DS9 is because we promised ourselves we'd watch the entirety of every Star Trek series.  However, I did find myself occasionally looking forward to the scenes with Dr. Bashir.

Robert Duncan McNeill

Not only did I find this sometimes-irreverent Voyager officer to be appealing, but he was also my husband's favorite character on the show.  You always knew there was going to be action when he showed up on the screen.
Garrett Wang

Occasionally misguided but lovable nonetheless, we can all root for Voyager's Harry Kim to make it home some day.

I haven't made it to Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, or Doctor Who, but they're on the list.  So, who have I forgotten?  What shows do I need to add to the must-watch list?  I'd love to hear you weigh in!

  2. Can I nominate this for best post on the planet? I can't believe that Topher was voted least-likeable. He was one of my faves. And nobody does unwashed better than Skeet Ulrich!

  3. What a great post! I'm thinking I should rent Firefly. I've heard so much about it. But it was very short lived, wasn't it? And where do I know Alan Tudyk from? Was he in 28 Days with Sandra Bullock? Anyway, found you from Naptime Review.

    1. Yes, it was only 14 episodes. But I will gladly watch those 14 episodes over and over and over. Plus they made the movie Serenity to finish it out. Alan Tudyk is seriously everywhere when you start to look for him. He even showed up on Arrested Development.

  14. Okay, I was just visiting from Casey Weigand's blog, but you totally won me over as a follower with this post! Bahaha! I <3 Joss and most of the actors in his works (especially Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk)!!!
One huge miss, though - David Boreanaz!
If you're an Alan Tudyk fan, there's a *hiarious* teen scream spoof on Netflix right now called "Tucker & Dale vs. Evil." It's campy, fresh, and sooo funny...
    Thanks for the awesome post!
